The Tribeca Film Festival is officially underway in New York! Industry lovers from all walks of the world come together to enjoy newly produced films, live performances and events. It doesn’t matter what flavor of music or films that you’re into because Tribeca will have it covered. Inspiration is in the air!

As I Open My Eyes has already gained recognition with winning two awards at the 2015 Venice Film Festival. Tunisian filmmaker Leyla Bouzid focuses on character, Farah, as she deals with the internal struggle of not disappointing her mother and going to medical school or pursuing her dream as a musician. As I Open My Eyes is a “to be continued” to the short Mkhobbi fi Kobba (Soubresauts), where we were left with Farah wanting to forge her own path. This Arab film is breaking barriers and bringing light to the art culture in the Arab community.

Balcony is a short narrative that highlights the racial divide in a neighborhood of locals and immigrants. One girl’s curiosity leads her into a new friendship.

All This Panic is a documentary that follows sisters Ginger and Dusty in their day to day life. Capturing moments of self-discovery and exciting times in their lives, Jenny Gage and Tom Betterton bring an intimate look on what being a teenage girl is like in New York City.

Shugs and Fats is a comedy that is a MUST watch. Created by Nadia P. Monzoor and Radhika Vaz, both women wear Hijabis and are just trying to live their life while adapting to Western culture in Brooklyn. These women shut social conformities down while giving us a round of laughter. Thankfully their break-through series will be screening new episodes from Season 3 Tonight, Thursday April 14, at the Tribeca Film Festival. Check out where it all began; Episode 1-Season 1.
